กลับทิศ กลับหัวกลับหาง upside down

เราเคยพูดเกี่ยวกับการกลับทิศโดยใช้คำ turnabout คราวนี้ เราจะพูดการกลับทิศในลักษณะ กลับหัวกลับหาง upside down คว่ำลง ที่พลิกเอาด้านบนลงล่าง

upside เป็นการบอกด้านที่อยู่สูงที่สุด the part that is uppermost.

Upside down (adv.) ในภาวะหรือพฤติการณ์ที่ส่วนที่ปกติแล้วควรจะอยู่หรือชี้ขึ้นบน กลายเป็นชี้ลงล่าง in such a manner that the part normally pointed upward is pointed downward นั่่นคือเป็นการที่ส่วนที่อยู่บนกลายเป็นอยู่ล่าง having the part which is usually at the top turned to be at the bottom

สำนวนสแลง turn sth upside down นั้นหมายถึง "การค้นหาของบางอย่างทุกที่แล้ว แต่ก็ยังไม่พบเพราะวางไว้ในจุดที่คาดไม่ถึง" to search everywhere for something, sometimes leaving a place very untidy

สำนวนสแลง turn (sth) upside down ยังให้ความหมาย การ(ทำให้บางอย่าง)เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างทั้งหมดในทางที่ไม่ดี to (cause something to) change completely and in a bad way

เช่น ภาวะเงินเพ้อมากเกินไปทำให้เศรษฐกิจของประเทศมีปัญหา Too much inflation could turn the country's economy upside down.
