Fart: ตด หรือ ผายลม

วันนี้มี ตด หรือ fart มาฝาก คำนี้ส่วนมากจะนำมาซึ่งบรรยากาศที่ไม่ค่อยจะน่ารื่นรมย์ แต่บางครั้งก็ทำให้ขบขันได้เช่นกัน คำ "ผายลม" นั้นส่วนมากก็ใช้ในหนังสือนวนิยายจีนซะมากกว่า ประมาณว่า พูดจาเหม็น ๆ เหมือนไม่ได้พูด เป็นคำด่าว่าซะมากกว่า

fart ในบางสถานะการณ์ ถือเป็นคำที่อยู่ในข่าย ก้าวร้าว (vulgar or offensive) คำนี้เป็นได้ทั้ง กริยา (verb) และ คำนาม (noun) มีรากศัพท์มาจาก Middle English words ได้แก่ ferten, feortan or farten ซึ่งเป็นคำในกลุ่มภาษาเยอรมันโบราณ (the Old High German) คือคำ ferzan

ในบางเหตุการณ์ 'fart' ถูกใช้แสดงในลักษณะ "คนน่ารำคาญ (irritating person)" หรือ "คนโง่ foolish person"

สำนวนคำกริยา (verb phrase) ที่กล่าวว่า 'fart around' หมายถึงการแสดงการใช้เวลาอย่างไม่ฉลาด อย่างไร้เป้าหมาย (spend time foolishly or aimlessly)

ส่วน 'brain fart' ใช้ในลักษณะเดียวกันกับ 'senior moment' ซึ่งเป็นภาวะหลง ๆ ลืม ๆ (a momentary lapse in concentration or occurrence of forgetfulness) เช่นภาวะที่เรียก Absence seizure

สำหรับ 'fart sack' เป็นแสลงของทหาร (military slang) จะหมายถึง เตียง หรือ ถุงนอน (sleeping bag)

มีการใช้คำ'Duck fart' ในละครห้องน้ำขบขัน (toilet humour) หมายถึงภาวะการมีลมในท้อง (flatulence)
