ไก่หลง: A village bike

When I was a small boy, in those times, we called a girl who had a bad reputation of sleeping around with men in our seashore village a 'kai loong' or a 'lost chicken'. ตอนผมยังเป็นเด็กเล็กอยู่ ในสมัยนั้น เราเรียกผู้หญิงผู้มีชื่อเสียงไม่ดีที่ไปนอนกับผู้ชายในหมู่บ้านชายทะเลของ เราว่า 'ไก่หลง'

She usually brought bad luck to her family because there was no one who wanted to associate with them. เธอมักจะนำโชคร้ายมาสู่ครอบครัว เพราะไม่มีใครอยากคบค้าสมาคมกับคนในครอบครัวนั้น

ผู้อ่านท่านครับ รถจักยานคันไหนก็ตาม It can be ridden by everybody in the village. คนในหมู่บ้านปั่นได้ ถีบได้ ตามใจชอบ We call it 'a village bicycle' or 'a village bike'. เราเรียกว่า จักรยานประจำหมู่บ้าน 'A kai loong or a lost chicken = a village bike

That new assistant district chief officer didn't know that the girl who he'd just married was the village bike. ปลัดอำเภอคนใหม่ไม่รู้ว่าสตรีที่ตัวเองเพิ่งจะแต่งงานด้วยเป็นจักรยานหมู่ บ้าน (คือเป็นสตรีที่นอนกับผู้ชายทั้งหมู่บ้าน)

Every time he showed his face at our Baan Seung Lang, we all laughed at him. ทุกครั้งที่แกโชว์โผล่หน้ามาที่หมู่บ้านซึ้งล่างของเรา พวกเราก็มักจะหัวเราะเยาะปลัดอำเภอคนนั้นกันน่าดู
